BAVO and Sustainable Wales invite representatives from the County’s community groups to join in 'planet and people-friendly' climate change action and dialogue.
We are organising a free event (Jan 24th from 11am, above SUSSED James St., Porthcawl CF36 3BG for: Trustees/Directors/Staff/Volunteers and representative service users.
Our events are supported by the Welsh Government i.e. ‘Wales Climate Conversations’ team, joining a Wales-wide discussion to gather shared understanding of local risks and solutions from the public.
Porthcawl-based Sustainable Wales produced 3 short ‘Sleepwalking into Climate Change?’ films**, largely filmed in Bridgend Borough, screened to stimulate discussion at the sessions. Their aim is to locate climate change discussion in the place where we live and to help facilitate positive roundtable discussions.
Bridgend Borough will not be without climate problems, so how do we respond now to manage any potential risk? Adapting to our changing climate will be emphasised as well as sharing our ideas for positive action.
Community groups should consider responsibility as individuals, in families and also as community workers and leaders. Register with : Alex Bowen, BAVO Green Development Officer, alexbowen@bavo.org.uk or Margaret Minhinnick, Director mm@sustainablewales.org.uk
**The films are led by concerned young people and they engage the public; NRW scientist; Bangor academic; NGO’s (WWF Cymru, Community Energy Wales); Bro Ffestiniog Citizen’s Assembly; Cenin Renewables and the ‘Hi Tide’ business and local politicians (MS, Town and Borough leader).
This series of films is produced by charity Sustainable Wales and film company Mud & Thunder. They were financed by ‘Warm This Winter UK’, the ‘Postcode Lottery’ and Sustainable Wales and we are grateful for their support. Contact: Margaret Minhinnick at mm@sustainablewales.org.uk
