The Wales We Want from Park6Productions.
National Conversation interviews conducted by Sustainable Wales as part of The Wales We Want, a Welsh Government initiative. Contracted by Cynnal Cymru.
The Commissioner for Sustainable Futures 2014, Peter Davies, was tasked by the Welsh Government to pilot a National Conversation on the ‘The Wales We Want’. The aim of the conversation was to hear from the people of Wales and to improve our understanding of the long term issues that future generations might face.
The National Conversation was an important contribution towards the new Well-being and Future Generations (Wales) Act May 2015 (full guide in PDF download).
This Act will establish an independent statutory Sustainable Futures’ Commissioner, who will produce a report on behalf of future generations, informed by engaging citizens of Wales through periodic conversations. As the Minister stated:
“We need to understand how the long term trends – demographic, technological, and environmental - will affect our long term goals. The Conversation and subsequent report are intended to set the agenda for the positive action that the devolved public service, in particular, can take.”
