The charity, Sustainable Wales, combines with Ty Carnegie, the wonderful new ‘arts hub’ in Wyndham Street, Bridgend CF31 1EF, 7.30pm on FRIDAY, SEPTEMBER 25, for the launch of Limestone Man’ by Robert Minhinnick.
Readers will be Robert Minhinnick and Lucy Bourke. Peter Morgan will perform on keyboards. Special guest readers include poets Kristian Evans and Frank O’Connor.
‘Limestone Man’ concerns Richard Parry, a teacher who returns to south Wales to discover his home town has become notorious for the suicides of young people.
This element of the story is based on a disturbing ‘revelation’ and global news story a decade ago that Bridgend borough was synonymous with such suicides.
Richard Parry is a writer who doesn’t write, a painter who cannot paint. His obsession is Lulu, his Australian ‘green child’.
Limestone Man has already been described by Wales Arts Review as “a very fine novel written with a hypnotic style”
It is Minhinnick’s second novel to be published by Seren.
Wine reception (with donations). Free entrance.
